MAFF MISSION

The Make A Film Foundation provides an opportunity for young people diagnosed with critical or terminal illness to use the media as a powerful tool for self-expression and communication by creating five-minute film legacies. Pairing participants with noted directors, writers, actors and producer mentors, we provide them with the tools, resources, and guidance to reclaim the media and give them a voice.

Young people facing illness and long-term hospitalization naturally feel marginalized from the world. Many spend vast amounts of time watching television, experiencing realities they may never share. Make a Film Foundation provides these young people an opportunity to reclaim the media as a tool for creative expression and personal empowerment. At Make a Film Foundation we believe that creativity and self-expression are innately therapeutic.

OUR SPECIFIC MEASURABLE OBJECTIVES ARE:

60 CHILDREN SHORT FILM WISHES ANNUALLY

To grant film wishes yearly to 50-60 children- via our short narrative program and our documentary program.

50 SHORT STORIES ANNUALLY WITH HOSPITALS

To create 40-50 short documentaries in partnership with hospitals and other organizations who focus on this unique population of children.

RAISE HUMAN CAPITAL

Raise $500K to create up to 5 short films each year inspired by kids diagnosed with critical or terminal diseases and co-created with members of the entertainment community.

INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS

To create one international documentary project per year.

TWO RED CARPET SCREENINGS PER YEAR

Host a Red Carpet Screening for each of the various films.

CREATE A COLLECTION OF FILMS FOR FUNDRAISING

Create a DVD and DIGITAL collection of the films to offer for donations.

DONATE PORTION OF PROCEEDS TO SELECT CHARITIES

Give back a portion of proceeds to select charities focused on some of the individual children's diseases.
